Baseball Factory to Evaluate Local Players

Baseball Factory & Under Armour today announced that they will hold two separate evaluation programs for players ages 12-14 years old on May 20 at Mills Field in Strongsville, Ohio.  The Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout focuses on providing players with a workout during which top coaches will identify players’ strengths and provide them with direction for improving their abilities.

Ohio resident and former college and high school baseball coach Matt Richter will oversee the on-field activities. Richter’s experience also includes serving as a member of Baseball Factory’s College Recruiting Department.  Visit baseballfactory.com/tryouts or call 800.641.4487 to register.

The Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout is divided into two sessions. Both the morning and afternoon sessions include: a professional workout examiningspeed, pitching, hitting, defense and arm strength; evaluation by a professional scout; assessment for a spot on an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tournament Team or at an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Training event; and take-home materials with tips and drills emphasizing the techniques and mechanics that players must have to succeed in high school, and eventually college.

“Our primary goal on May 20 is to provide families with a better understanding of how their children compare to other players nationwide, while showing young athletes how they can continue to develop and find success on the baseball field,” said Steve Sclafani, founder & CEO of Baseball Factory.

The afternoon session runs from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. EDT, with player arrival and check-in at Noon. Registration is requested prior to the event and is $99 per player (an additional $100 fee applies if seeking evaluation at more than one position).

For players looking for an even greater advantage, the morning session provides additional premiums.  Beginning at 9:00 a.m., Baseball Factory will conduct an Interactive Video Program in which players will receive a professionally filmed and edited online video of their performance.  They will also receive a detailed written evaluation from scouts offering direction for continued improvement, and a personal Baseball Factory Player Web page that displays the player’s video footage and scout evaluation (great tool to share with coaches, friends and family).  The web page also provides personalized, corrective videos targeting the player’s areas for improvement and offering training drills for taking their game to the next level. Check-in is at 8:00 a.m., with the program ending at 1:00 p.m. The session fee is $299 (a $100 extra position fee also applies for the morning session).

Added Sclafani, “One of our success stories can be found in Indians’ top-rated minor league prospect, Francisco Lindor.  He participated in several Baseball Factory events, starting in 2009 with the Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in Bradenton, Fla.  Based on his success in our programs and in high school, Francisco was a first round pick by Cleveland in the 2011 draft.”
