1. The Ehrnfelt Senior Center, 18100 Royalton Road, will celebrate the arrival of 2011 with a brunch at 10 a.m. The event will include music, games and an early countdown to the new year. Cost is $5 for members, $6 for non-member residents and $7 for non-member ron-residents. Call 440-580-3275.
2. Michaud's Towne 'N Country, 15808 Pearl Rd., will hosts its annual bash from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., with a buffet dinner served 6-8:30 p.m. The event boasts six rooms of entertainment and dancing to four bands and two DJs. BYOB. Cost is $60 per person. 440-238-7078.
3. Trivs, 17100 Royalton Rd., will take reservations for dinner every hour between 5-9 p.m. There will be live entertainment in the lounge till 1 a.m. and dinner specials. 440-238-8830.
4. Carrie Cerino's, at 8922 Ridge Rd. in neighboring North Royalton, has two options for ringing in the new year: the Bar and Dancing Package ($45 per person, $90 per couple), which includes a champagne toast at midnight, open bar, party favors and a continental breakfast at 1 a.m.; and the Grand Ballroom, which includes all of the above plus canapes, a buffet dinner and dessert table. 5. Families come first at First Night Akron, now in its 15th year in downtown Akron. For $10 (kids under 10 are admitted free), visitors can tour a series of indoor venues and enjoy music, art and performances in an alcohol-free environment. Visit firstnightakron.org.
6. New Year's Eve Hike Around the Lake is a 3.5-mile walk around Hinckley Lake, located off State Road in the Cleveland Metroparks Hinckley Reservation. Naturalist Sharon Hosko will talk about how other cultures welcome the New Year during the trek, which runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. 440-526-1012
7. Another family friendly option is offered by the Great Lakes Science Center, 601 Erieside Ave., for a New Year's Eve Eve celebration on Jan. 30. From 7-11:30 p.m., families can skate on carpet, create a hovercraft snowman, watch Big Science Shows, make fake snow to take home and enjoy a holiday Omnimax double feature: "Santa Vs. the Snowman" and "Alaska." Guests will ring in the new year with a countdown, ginger ale toast and a 1,500-balloon drop.
8. The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo will celebrate Noon Year's Eve again this year from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., complete with a countdown and ball drop at noon. There are also games, crafts, music, animal shows and other activities for kids.
9. St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church will host a New Year's Eve celebration from 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Hellenic Center, 4548 Wallings Rd. in North Royalton. The event will include an open bar, hors d'oeuvres and live music for Greek dancing. Reservations are required at $35 for adults and $15 for children 15 and under. 440-237-8998.
10. Slim & Chubby's, 12492 Prospect Rd., will feature music by the CoCo Beanos, heavy hors d'oeuvres, one drink, a champagne toast at midnight and continental breakfast for $20. Doors open at 6 p.m. 440-572-SLIM.
