Albion Road is tentatively set to reopen Dec. 12, Strongsville officials said.
City Engineer Ken Mikula said retaining wall that holds up the crumbling hillside has been built and crews are now hauling away dirt.
"The whole key is to get it paved, and that's weather-dependent," Mikula said.
Albion has been closed between Handle Road and Valley Parkway since May 10, 2011, when safety officials noticed the pavement was crumbling down a hillside.
Officials have called it "the most expensive section of road" in Strongsville because it will cost about $655,000 to repair.
The job involved drilling 30-foot holes to anchor 41 pylons that will shore up the embankment, then repaving.
The road will also shift a little to smooth out a curve.
