Altenheim Medical Director Named 'Best Doctor'
William D. Smucker recognized with national honor
William D. Smucker M.D., Medical Director of the Altenheim, has been named one of the Best Doctors in America®.
Smucker was recognized in several specialties including geriatric medicine, geriatric medicine/hospice and palliative care, and family medicine.
Best Doctors in America® are chosen by their peers. Physicians participating in the selection process answer a series of survey questions, including “If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer them?”
Smucker and local peers who were recognized with this honor were featured in the March 2012 edition of Cleveland Magazine.
“Dr. Smucker helps make Altenheim the great facility it is today,” said Paul Psota, Altenheim CEO. “Our staff benefits greatly from his knowledge and guidance, and our residents really like him too.”
Smucker has served as medical director and primary care physician at Altenheim for 30 years.
He was previously recognized as a Best Doctor in America® from 2002-2009, and was also named a “Top Doctor” In Northeast Ohio in 2002-2006.
In addition to his Altenheim duties, Smucker is Clinical Director of the Family Medicine Clinical Research Center for Summa Health System, and is a member of the teaching faculty.
