An armed robber held a cashier at La Chateau Wine Bar, 12287 Pearl Rd., at knifepoint and demanded money Wednesday afternoon.

The cashier was not injured. After the robber left, she ran to nearby Neverending Child to call police.

The robber was apprehended about a half hour later walking on Woodside Court near Fallingwater Road.

Dennis Klocek, 49, of Parma, is being charged with robbery and kidnapping.

Police gave these details:

The employee was alone in the wine bar at 5 p.m. when a man wearing sunglasses walked in brandishing a knife. 

Detective Sgt. David Tomcho said the man threatened to kill the woman if she didn't hand over the cash. When she did, he wasn't satisfied with the amount.

The woman offered to give him money from her purse, Tomcho said.

After she did, he led her to a restroom and told her to wait two minutes before leaving. 

The woman heard the robber leave, looked outside, saw that he was gone and ran to Neverending Child and asked employees to call police.

She was able to give police a description of the robber and his clothing. About 5:30 p.m., officers spotted a man matching the description walking near Fallingwater and apprehended him.

The victim was brought to the area, where she identified him as the robber.

Tomcho said Klocek was found to have the amount of money taken from the wine bar, as well as a roll of bills in a blue rubber band. The victim told police she gave the robber money in a blue rubber band from her purse.

Tomcho said Klocek has a criminal history, including aggravated burglary, carrying a concealed weapon, breaking and entering and gross sexual imposition.
