Artists Needed to Volunteer at Chalk Walk

Amateurs or pros can draw pictures for local businesses

The second Chalk/Art Walk on Saturday, May 19 will give kids a chance to decorate the City Commons with their original designs.

Arts in Strongsville, which presents the event with sponsosr PNC Bank, is also looking for older artists -- amateurs, college-level or professional -- to help out by painting or drawing pictures for sponsoring local businesses.

Arts in2012 sponsored by PNC Bank presented by the Arts in Strongsville.

If interested, email Amy McEntee at amy@recycle.cc or call her at 216-973-0844

At the Chalk Walk, kids 5-18 will decorate the walkway in front of the police station and compete for prizes.

The event is free and runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with judging from 2-4 p.m.

New this year are categories for families and special needs.

If it rains, participants should meet at the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center, 18100 Royalton Rd.

A spot will be set up for toddlers under 5 who would like to draw. They will not be judged. A parent must be present at all times during the contest for all elementary-age students. Chalk will be provided to all children. No other chalk can be used as it may stain the concrete.

Water can be purchased at this event. Lawn chairs are suggested. Donation of a canned good for the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank would be appreciated.
