Bad News about $100,000 School Contest

Strongsville seemed likely to win State Farm award

Strongsville Schools did not win a $100,000 grant from State Farm in the company's Celebrate My Drive contest.

Superintendent John Krupinski said the winner is to be announced on Friday, but he has been notified it is not Strongsville.

"I'm surprised," he said. "I thought we had a very good chance."

State Farm held a teen driver safety rally at SouthPark Mall Sept. 15 and promised a $100,000 grant to the school district within a 50-mile radius that registered the most students, parents and supporters on its website.

Strongsville High School promoted the contest organized a registration drive.

Also to be announced on Friday are the winners of a new Chevy Sonic LS. Teens 15-18 who visited SouthPark during the rally could enter to win the car.
