Benefit for Kayla Allen is Thursday at Cleats

Friends of the family have set up a fund to help shooting victim

Friends and family of Kayla Allen will host a fundraiser from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at Cleats, 15147 Pearl Rd. in Strongsville.

The event will include food and a raffle, with proceeds going to the Kayla Allen Benefit Fund at Fifth Third Bank.

Kayla was critically injured April 12 in a shooting rampage by her father, Kevin, at the Brooklyn Cracker Barrel that killed her younger sister, Kerri, 10, and her mother, Kate, 42.

The fifth-grader at Chapman Elementary School is in serious condition at MetroHealth Medical Center.

You can also help Kayla through the Kayla Allen Benefit Fund Facebook page, where you can read posts from her family and friends and also donate to her fund through PayPal.

Buy tickets for Thursday's fundraiser at Cleats through the Facebook page. Cost is $20, with $10 going to Kayla's fund.

Guests can also drop in to bid on raffle items without buying a ticket to eat.

Raffle items include jewelry, spa gift cards, theme baskets and some generous gift cards donated by local business. All proceeds from the raffle will go to Kayla's fund.

A separate raffle will also begin Thursday evening in which Bella Cement will donate a 300-square-foot stamped patio. Those tickets will be $10 each, with a drawing on May 12.

According to the Facebook page, Kayla is awake and able to respond to questions.
