Sometimes it's better to show than tell.
Chris Uhrin of Strongsville started the Facebook page DC Grafix of Cleveland seven years ago to do just that — show.
The owner of DC Grafix and experienced airbrush tattoo artist said he started the page to showcase the services that his company provides, mostly through photos.
"I had difficulty reaching my market in advertising when I first started the business. I found that Facebook gave me the exposure and flexibility in reaching my potential customers," Uhrin said.
He and a coworker started the business in 2005 and recently just branched out to offer face painting as well.
"We had this idea with providing the Northeast Ohio area with a fun and exciting service ... airbrush tattoos! It's a fun, colorful and exciting way to put smiles on kids and adults at any event," he said.
What's Shared on the Page
Fun and colorful are also words to describe the photos Uhrin shares on the DC Grafix Facebook page. Some are attached to this story, but all of them may be viewed here.
"I can post pictures of my work and my happy customers. I can also post my upcoming events for anyone interested in coming out and seeing what we are all about," he said.
For the most part, Facebook fans share and "like" photos on the page, but Uhrin said he does have people ask the same question from time to time.
"We are a family-friendly service, however we still get asked about putting tattoos on inappropriate places. Of course, those types of things are NOT DC Grafix policy," he said.
Goals for the Page
The page currently (as of Jan. 23, 2013) has 53 "likes." Uhrin said he has a lot of repeat customers in Northeast Ohio, but he would really like to get some new ones though social media and "word of mouth."
"We have repeat clients from Rocky River all the way to Mayfield Heights. You see these people year after year and form great client relationships," he said.
His current goal is to reach 100 Facebook fans.
"We always get to know some great local customers in Northeast Ohio from our page," said Uhrin.
The page also uses the powers of social media to spread the news of local events that DC Grafix is involved in — like local Relay for Life events and fundraisers.
"DC Grafix helped a team at the [Brooklyn Relay for Life] event and donated all proceeds to the relay fundraiser! DC Grafix has also been a part of Ride for Red in Akron, Ohio to raise money for the American Red Cross," he said. "It's great to be part of not only a community but a region as well!"
