Instead of clogging up the phone lines with mass texts and calls, schedule your good wishes ahead of time. 

Whether it's from near or far, you can wish any of your Facebook friends a Happy New Year at midnight in a personal message. 

Facebook is now offering a service that will deliver a private message to any of your friends that will appear in their inbox at midnight Jan. 1.
