Here's How You can Help Simonoski Family

Fundraisers in Brunswick, Cleveland aimed at helping victims of ax attack

Two fundraisers are in the works for the children of the Simonoski family

The adult kids have been left on their own since an Aug. 21 incident at their former home on Hollo Oval. Their mom, Milka, is recovering slowly from head wounds; their father, Aco, known as "Alex," is in jail on an attempted murder charge.

• This Saturday, Oct. 22, there will be an event from 7-9 p.m. at West Park Station Bar and Grill, 17015 Lorain Rd. in Cleveland.

• On Nov. 12, friends are organizing an event at Sidelines Bar & Grill, 1165 Pearl Rd., Brunswick, from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and available at the Silver Style kiosk, located just inside the main entrance at Westfield SouthPark. The event will include wings, beer, pizza, hot dogs and other snacks; 50-50 raffles; gift baskets; and music from 8-11 by Renegade. For more information, call 440-759-1718.

Silver Style and other mall merchants are also selling candy bars for $1 on behalf of the family.

In addition, an account has been set up at Charter One Bank. Donations can be made to the Simonoski Family Fund at any branch.

Police say Aco Simonoski struck his wife in the head with an ax during a domestic dispute. Oldest daughter Bilyana, 22, suffered a deep gash on her wrist during the incident.

She and her brother, Alex, 20, recently moved into an apartment. Their sister, Vesna, 21, is staying with friends.

Milka has regained consciousness and is undergoing therapy in hopes she can one day walk and talk again.
