The new signs signal the official change of the mall's name since it was sold by Westfield to Starwood Capital Group in April 2012.

New signs went up at SouthPark Mall Tuesday -- just in time for the holiday shopping season.

For details on the new signs, check the mall's Facebook page.

In April, the mall was sold by Westfield to Starwood Capital Group in April, meaning the name would have to be changed.

The mall started out as SouthPark Center, then became Westfield Shoppingtown SouthPark. Starwood simply went with SouthPark Mall.

Actually, it was sold twice. It was built in 1993 by the Jacobs Group, completed in 96. In 2002 Jacobs group sold 9 properties, including Southpark to Westfield Group. This year Westfield sold 8 commercial properties, including Soutpark, to Starwood Group.
