Just-Released U.S. Census Figures for 2010 Show Strongsville Grew -- a Little
Strongsville's population is up, but by less than 1,000
Figures released Wednesday afternoon by the 2010 U.S. Census show Strongsville has gained population since 2000, but not much.
As shown in the two boxes below, population here has grown by 892 people in the last decade, from 43,858 to 44,750.
Also increasing was the number of black/African American residents and hispanic residents, the figures show.
The increase in population is a turnaround from 2009 estimates, which showed that Strongsville had actually lost population since 2000. The 2009 estimate put the city's residents at 42,834.
That number was disputed by City Planner Bob Hill, who said he was certain the 2010 census would show growth. His own estimate put population here at around 46,000.
