New Mountain Bike Trail Being Built Here
It's at the Metroparks' Royalview Picnic Area in Strongsville
A mountain bike trail is set to open in June at the Royalview Picnic Area in Strongsville.
The 8-mile trail winds through the woods and offers great views of Royalview Creek, according to the Cleveland Metroparks.
Beginners will find the trail smooth and easy to maneuver, with short and long rides. More experienced riders will enjoy the flowing single track up and down the ravines, according to a new release.
The natural-surface Royalview Trail is being built by Cleveland Metroparks, the Student Conservation Association and hundreds of volunteer hours from the Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA), with funding from Cleveland Metroparks Emerald Necklace Fund.
You can celebrate the opening weekend of the trail with the Royalview Mountain Bike Expo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 17.
The expo will offer instructions for new bikers and advice for experienced riders.
The event will also feature clinics for beginners, group rides and deomonstrations, in addition to a clinic for kids 8 and older. Bring a bike, and helmets are required.
Royalview Picnic Area is on Royalview Lane in Mill Stream Run Reservation, off Valley Parkway, just south of Royalton Road/Route 82 in Strongsville.
Suggested parking for the event is along Royalview Lane and at the nearby Chalet Recreation Area. Shuttle service will be provided to and from the Chalet Recreation Area.

what I would like to see is a all purpose bike/hike connector from the royalview picnic area to where the road ends on greenbriar drive (drake hunt) which would open the whole south strongsville area to the all purpose trail in the metroparks ...nobody even knows there is even a park back there >>>http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Greenbrier+Drive,+Strongsville,+OH&hl=en&ll=41.292415,-81.805229&spn=0.025183,0.055747&sll=41.296026,-81.801581&sspn=0.025182,0.055747&oq=green,+Strongsville,+OH&hnear=Greenbrier+Dr,+Strongsville,+Cuyahoga,+Ohio+44136&t=m&z=15

As someone who lives on Greenbrier I just want to make sure all the CAMBA and other trail riders and hikers realize that the Greenbrier Lake area is a private association and NOT part of the Metroparks.

the comments were directed at the guard rail at the end of greenbriar drive only which is land owned by the metroparks which access is actually now permitted to enter onto the trails off greenbriar drive

@Tom, yes, however mentioning that the it would "open the whole south strongsville area" and linking to the Greenbrier Drive map does not indicate a specificity for .... the guard rail.

jg if you are going to quote me use the whole quote ....would open the whole south strongsville area to the all purpose trail in the metroparks.... I think having that path into the parkway off the end of greenbriar will be a welcome addition to the area for hike/bikers

Well JG I thought I would do some checking on your private lake on drake and it seems that Ed Fitzgeralds office is actually having the Cuyahoga County Boards of Revision look at the tax evaluation on the improved parcel, since it was undervalued and (WE) the taxpayers have not received the true tax amount due from your under-valued property, so thanks for bringing your private lake up

Tom great post I did call the metroparks and they did actually say they have had a lot of calls about putting what they call a trail head from royalview to greenbriar (she also said they have had discussions about in the past week) if anyone is interested the lady I spoke to was patty stevens and her phone number is 216-635-3238 (I am tired of riding my bike 5 miles down pearl to get to the metroparks)

After speaking with Peggy, whose information you posted, she stated that Grenbrier is NOT a new entrance with new trails. The trails connect along the creek to the Royalview area. So there is no reason for this to even be up for discussion. She stated that there is no intention at this time to connect Geenbrier to the trail or to Royalview.

If you're there every day as you say you'll notice that they put the guard rail back up. Going around it puts ruts into the yards of those living at the end of the street. A car cannot physically go around it.

@Joe: THAT I agree with. People can enter the park wherever they want. We just dont want some official parkway or opening here, which I was assured isn't happening so no worries.

I also talked to the metro-parks and they have agreed to allow hikers/bikers to enter the parkway off greenbrier (which I have used everyday for 2 weeks to get to the bike trails)

Peggy Jarrett works at the brecksville nature center you should call the mill stream run and my comments have nothing to do about any "official" entrance it is about permitted access off greenbrier

My mistake, Some neighbors and I spoke to Patty. The contact Tom provided. Not a Peggy. Don't know where that came from.

OK, I'm new to this discussion and really can't get into reading all these 40 comments - I'm getting lost. So, just one question. On most side streets in the city, parking is permitted. Is parking NOT permitted on THIS side street?

greenbrier is a street off hunt and drake and the street dead ends into the metroparks, so the metroparks are going to allow bikers and hikers to enter the parkway at the dead end which leads to the trails and then royalview lane (click on the link at my first post) now this JG does not want walkers or bike riders on HIS street because as JG said
"there are many ways it can affect the lives of those on the small street" yep hoards of evil bicycle riders going past the front of peoples homes

Lyn and everyone, we'll have a story on this issue first thing Thursday morning. I talked to the Metroparks today and got answers about what's going on with the trail and access off Greenbrier.

Thanks, tom. I am familiar with Greenbrier. And cars were parked on that street when I stopped at a garage sale over there recently. But I didn't think that it was illegal to park on that street. Even the homeowner was parked on the street.
So, even if someone WAS to park their car there, and then unload their bike, would it be wrong? Other than bothering JG? If its a public street, why not? If its not harming his property, then why not?
