Oops -- Woman E-Mails Tax Return to Wrong Person, Has Identity Stolen

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Whitney Road woman who was trying to send tax information to the person preparing her return made an e-mail mistake Feb. 8, instead sending her W2 forms and Social Security number to someone else.

By the next morning, she was receiving calls from a company about a loan application she had allegedly sought.

A police report said the person who received her tax information is appaently unscrupulous and is trying to get loans and open accounts in the woman's name.

Police advised the woman to contact the major credit agencies and have a fraud alert attached to her credit reports.
