The wet spring has washed out any hopes of getting the Pearl Road widening project wrapped up in the early summer, but it won't continue past August, officials say.

Lori Daley, design engineer for the city, said completion date is still the end of August.

"We did get a little behind because of all the rain," she said.

But she said the target finish date has not changed. Crews are prepared to work weekends to get the

Pearl Road is being widened from where it narrowed at the post office to Ellsworth Drive, which is just south of Drake Road.

The city has already started planning for Phase 2, which will widen Pearl from that point south to Boston Road.
