An access road that connects the Plaza at SouthPark to Ledgewood Square and Borders Plaza is now open.

Visconsi Companies built the 450-foot road that runs from behind the Rosewood Grill, along the back of Ldgewood Square and connects with the driveway at the Borders Plaza.

Traffic will be able to get in and out using the Borders driveway -- it aligns with an entrance to SouthPark Mall -- or can continue west through the parking lot and use Falling Water Drive.

The aim is to alleviate traffic tie-ups at Royalton and Howe roads -- in particular, eastbound traffic that stacks up trying to turn left into the Plaza at SouthPark.

Can you just skip cutting through the Borders parking lot and continue on the access road all the way to Falling Water Drive on that other access road that was there? If so, I'll use that as a cut through so I don't have to deal with 82 traffic.
But I pity both Ledgewood residents and Borders shopping center tenants and their customers - what a mess that will be now. All they have done is shift the city's and one shopping centers traffic problem to another area. Before, you at least knew how far to go down 82 before you hit traffic, but now it is diverted further west. Thanks for the mess that is being made over there. I guess its called putting a bandaid on when surgery is needed.

Lyn, maybe, but you're not supposed to. They're asking traffic to turn left at the end of the access road and go through the Borders lot, in front of the building, to get to Falling Water.

To divert traffic through the shopping center to get to Falling Water is only asking for problems, traffic and accidents, in that shopping center's parking lot.
Besides, that doesn't really seem fair to the owners of Borders shopping center, or their tenants - that is benefiting the other owners shopping center.
Nice that Visconsi is able to dump their mess in someone elses parking lot, as well as the entrance to the residential street.

Maybe owners of borders plaza wouldn't be going into foreclosure if they had this additional traffic flow through the Parking lot. How about getting a better anchor tenant in there. What's going to get you into that plaza? Play it again sports, a mattress company, a Christian store, a crappy sub shop?
