Brian Sloan takes the oath of office as the newest sergeant in the Strongsville police department on Monday, July 16, 2012. With him are his wife, Kristine and their sons Brayden, 5, and Dylan, 2. Administering the oath is Mayor Tom Perciak, with Police Chief Charles Goss, left. Goss said Sloan has been with the department 13 years, seven as a uniformed officer and six in the detective bureau. He also served on the Southwest Enforcement Bureau's SWAT team and as a member of the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. This year, he received the department's Blue Collar Award for going the extra mile to recover stolen items and return them to a Strongsville victim.
