Police Blotter: 2 Intoxicated Men: One in a Ditch, One Lying on Porch
The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department
Police were called to Drake Road Nov. 15 after a passerby reported a man lying across a front porch.
Police found the man was intoxicated and waiting for his mother to come pick him up.
She arrived while the officer was there, but she decided he was too drunk for her to take with her.
The officer helped the man out of the car and back onto the porch.
A motorist reported seeing a dog by the ditch on Whitney Road at Webster Road about 10:30 p.m. Nov. 15, but when he looked closer, saw a man lying in the ditch.
He seemed confused, the caller said.
When police arrived, the man was up and walking again. He told the officer he had a few beers before taking his dog for a walk and the dog tripped him, sending him into the ditch.
He said he was fine, but police followed along to make sure he got home safely.
Purse Stolen from Car
Someone smashed the window of a car parked at the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center and stole a purse from inside, a report said.The theft was reported about 7:10 p.m. Nov. 14.
Theft from Vehicle
A GPS was stolen from a truck on Potomac Drive early Nov. 10.
The doors were locked, but the windows were cracked. There was no forced entry.
A neighbor on East Kerry Place complained just before midnight Nov. 13 that a dog had been barking and scratching at the door to get in since 8 p.m.
The unrestrained doberman approached the officer, prompting him to call for the animal warden.
Officers called the resident's phone, but got no answer. He finally came out and said his ex-wife must have left the dog outside and he didn't realize it. The animal warden will follow up.
