3 Suspicious Men; 1 Suspicious Package in Mail: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

At least three residents reported suspicious men in the area over the last few days.

On Friday morning, a passerby saw a man dressed all in camo, carrying what looked like a rifle and walking near the RTA lot off Pearl Road.

Police found someone fishing in the nearby pond, but he was wearing jeans and a black jacket. They couldn't find anyone matching that description.

Later on Friday, a Cliffside Drive resident reported seeing a man in the woods near his house for the second time. He also saw a man the night before.

And on Trapper Trail, a resident saw a male with a thin build come up to the back patio door about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and give her a slow wave.

He then took off into the darkness. He was wearing a grayish hoodie and glasses.

Not So Suspicious

A Greenbrier Drive resident reported receiving a package in the mail containing a threatening note and a piece of jewelry.

Police found no threatening note and a pretty good explanation for the package -- the resident's daughter had ordered a bracelet.

Damage on Country Way

At least three light fixtures on Country Way were damaged the night of Oct. 18.

Two residents reported their lamp posts damaged; in one case, police said the vandals took a small light from the ground at a third house and used it to smash a light post.

Explosion

A Lanier Avenue resident reported hearing a loud explosion about 7:15 p.m. Oct. 20.

There were no flashes of light -- just the bang.

An officer couldn't locate anything out of the ordinary, a report said.

Unusual Identity Theft

A Strongsville man learned that someone used his information on hospital bill in 2009.
