Police Blotter: A $700,000 Credit Card Bill; Glock Stolen from Car; Neighbor's Fireworks Show 'Bigger than City's'

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A 9mm Glock handgun was stolen from the glove compartment of a car belonging to a Kylemore Drive resident.

The man told police Saturday he had last seen the gun on Wednesday or Thursday.

He noticed it missing when he took the vehicle for service in North Olmsted, but is not sure if it was taken there, or while it was parked at home.

Flowerbed Dispute

Some neighbors on Prospect Road who acknowledge they've been feuding for 26 years called police Saturday after one resident put a flower bed on the side of the house.

One man complained the flowers will prevent the neighbor from getting his lawn mower from the back yard to the front.

The neighbors acknowledged they were extending their landscaping to make sure the man doesn't come onto their property.

He will have to find another way to get to his front yard, they said.

Police said the matter was a civil issue, not a crime.

Big Line of Credit

Identity theft isn't unusual, but the case involving a Shagbark Trail resident is.

The man told police Saturday someone used his identity to open a credit card -- and charged $700,000 over the last two days.

There are no suspects in the mega-shopping incident.

Fireworks Display Bigger than City's

A resident reported a huge fireworks show about 9:45 p.m. Saturday that was "bigger than Strongsville's" display, according to a report.

The woman said the noise had upset her dogs so much they were sick. She said she drove around and found they were coming from Bowman Drive.

Police warned the Bowman Drive resident about the city's fireworks ordinance.

More Fireworks

Saturday was a busy night for back yard fireworks, with at least seven other complaints coming in.

The shows were coming from the areas of Albion Road, Main Street, Rosalee Lane, Blazing Star Drive, Scott Drive and Barbara Drive.

Who Let the Dogs Out?

A Hollowrun Place resident told police Sunday that someone had opened his back gate the night before, letting his two dogs out of the yard.

The dogs had returned, but the resident was concerned someone was trying to break in and will come back.
