Police Blotter: Man Chased from Bunker in May Still Living There
The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department
It appears a man found living in a bunker on Mohawk Drive May 22 is still there.
Some men cutting grass near a building told police June 4 they came across the bunker, opened the door and saw a light inside.
When police arrived, someone fled the bunker and ran through the woods. Officers checked the area, but could not find him.
Police believe they know the identity of the man living underground. However, they said they are not sure who owns the property and whether he is permitted to be there.
In May, police spoke with the man, who said a friend owned the property and he thought he could stay there. He said he was trying to find a way to make the structure waterproof.
He was told he couldn't live there. In addition, the report said the structure looked like it might collapse and is a hazard if kids play there.
A Courtland Drive resident got home from work about 7:30 p.m. June 6 to find all her landscape lighting ripped out of the ground.
In addition, neighbors said unlocked cars on the street were gone through the previous night.
Nothing appeared to be taken.
Party On, But Drumless
Police were called to a Whitney Road apartment shortly after midnight June 4 because the people in a unit were screaming and playing drums.
The tenant told police he was hosting a birthday party. Officers told him to stop playing drums, and if they had to return, he would be cited.
