QVC Reports Woman's TV Purchases Led to Beating: Police Blotter
The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department
A security officer from cable TV channel QVC called police Feb. 1 to report that a customer from Strongsville was being beaten by her husband.
The officer said one of the call takers at the network, which features and sells products on TV, said a customer told her that her husband beats her because she orders too much from QVC.
Police went to the woman's house and found she did have some swelling around her mouth -- from dental work.
The whole family said the woman's husband does not hit her, a report said.
The woman said her comment to the QVC rep was a joke she made because she calls there so often.
A woman on Mallard Circle said she heard two gunshots at 9:15 p.m. Feb. 2.
She told police she was certain it was not fireworks. Police said everything was quiet in the area when they arrived.
Boss 'Freaking Out'
An employee at a Royalton Road business called about 12:20 p.m. Feb. 1 to say her boss was "freaking out and screaming at everyone."
She and other employees were frightened to the point of shaking, a report said.
The boss was upset because a manager had quit wthout notice. Police told him that was no way to treat his other employees.
The employees were told they have the option of quitting if they don't want to work for the man.
Water Running in Vacant House
A neighbor on Wildwood Lane told police that the wind blew open the door of a vacant house, and when he went to shut it, he heard water running.
Officials found pipes had burst in several areas inside the house. The Fire Department said it would shut off the water and was trying to determine who owns the property.
Friend? Not So Much
A Cherry Tree Drive resident told police he let a woman stay with him for a while.
When she left, she took his laptop, a coin collection, $500 cash and other items, a report said.
