Rec Center to Close Early for Romney Visit Thursday

Wife of Presidential candidate will visit Strongsville Nov. 1

The Ehrnfelt Recreation Center will close at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 in preparation for a rally with Ann Romney.

The Senior Center portion of the building will probably close earlier, Recreation Director Bryan Bogre said.

"That will be up to the Secret Service," Bogre said.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. for the Women’s Victory Rally with Ann Romney. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

It's not known yet whether the rec center will re-open after the rally, which is scheduled to end at 7 p.m. Bogre said a decision will be made at that time, depending on circumstances.

The Event Center holds up to 1,200 people, but Bogre said a stage and some bleachers will take up some of that room.

Strongsville Patch will be publishing live tweets from the event.

Non-perishable food items will be collected at the door for donation to Hurricane Sandy’s storm relief efforts.

Be prepared to go through airport-like security. Guests are asked to bring as few personal items as possible. No bags, sharp objects, umbrellas, liquids or signs will be allowed in the venue. Cameras are permitted.

Good thing the duespaying members/taxpayers have a say (NOT) in whether a facility like this is used for a one-sided event. Yes Iknow they did it too when Obama came, but its still BS. Not right for either side, tho I'm sure smilin' Tom will be up there grinning for a photo op.

Alan, your post is ignorant at best. John, it is a community center... It is a chance for ANYONE, even close-minded individuals like Alan, to hear someone speak. It is not an event only for those voting for Romney. It is open to anyone who has open ears and wants to be part of the process. Its about the experience. I attended Obama's event to hear what he had to say even though I had no intention at the time to vote for him. As far as "members" voting on hosting an event like this, you must be joking. I do not remember having to put a party affiliate in my rec center member form... I lose more usable rec center hours when high school swim events take place. To be closed for 4 hours to have the privilege of hearing these people speak in our city is amazing! Hope to see you there...

I remember hearing years ago that Perciak was registered Democrat until the Catan cartel recruited him after Erhnfelt died. Also never heard anyone dispute that. The whole thing sucks, just do it for no one!

We are residence of Strongsville for 37 years. Allmost a month ago my husband and I registered for NOV 1st, an AARP special drivers refresher course that is especially for "VETERANS" and their family. Well guess what . . We received a phone call from the Senior Center OCTOBER 30th, saying we had to reschedule for Nov. 15th. I had a doctors post-op appointment on the 15th and had to change it (fortunately he had an opening just 5 days later on the 20th). The Senior Center did not say why the change had to be made. Now I find out the LAST MINUTE CHANGE is for Ann Romney to speak. I don't care which party it is. They should have scheduled far enough in advance and the Senior Center should have said what dates and times were open.

OH MY GOD .....THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND DENISE

Is not the entire countries future a little more important than you honing your personal driving skills at a free AARP meeting? What harm was done to you in reality? Merely rescheduling an appointment? Seriously, do you folks not get the fact that there are undecided voters that will hear speakers in person this week, and then be the ones who end up deciding an extremely close presidential race? If you have a beef, take it up with the senior center. But then again, maybe they already see my point and think, who in their right mind would be upset at the privilege of having such a speaker present this close to the most important election of this generation and many to come...

To Scott Sedlacek. WOW! Do you feel better now? Yes, this election is important. But no more important than any past Presidential Election. I don’t understand. You wrote: “The “PRIVILEGE” of having such a “Speaker”. I am sure Mrs. Romney is a nice person. But privilege, that would be like having an audience with His Eminence, Pope John (I cherish the rosary he blessed). Have you ever been in the White House, West Wing, in the Situation Room or the Oval Office? I have. Now THAT was a privilege. You may vote for whom ever you want, and you also may reply to my comment. That is your right. But it is my right to state my opinion in the first place. The fact that your reply was written in such a way as to try to degrade me into an insignificant nothing is not only disrespectful, it is immoral. In all my life I have not witnessed so much lying, such disrespect, and even hatred as I have witnessed lately. God help us.

Do you think Obama is a good guy and a straight shooter? Read on, please:
Obama has been an economic disaster the last four years, and this Benghazi disgrace is completely unacceptable... This country does not reward failure and dishonesty out of the White House...

You see, it's easy to run on a slogan, like Obama did in 2008... Hope and change, baby... It's much harder to do once you have a record that can be reviewed... He also said in 2008 that if he didn't get the job done in four years, that it would be a one term deal... Well, he hasn't delivered, so time to let him keep his word... Romney/Ryan 2012

To Scott, Jean, and anyone else that thinks as they do. Do you know how hard it is to get an appointment with a Specalist? This was a followup after a very serious operation. i am lucky to still be here and many others feel the same. So it was NOT just a matter of picking up the phone and making an appointment. If it was you i'm sure you would have felt the same. I was not the only one affected. BUT that is not what my original comment was about. The comment was NOT political. I don't care which party it was. Read my reply to Scott. That explains it. You will have to wait until you growup and become a senior citizen. Then you will understand. There is so much disrespect out there it makes me sick.
