An upscale wine bar and restaurant is seeking approval to open on Pearl Road.
Strongsville's Planning Commission is expected Thursday night to consider conditional use permits for the small restaurant and wine-martini bar at 16888 Pearl Rd., next to A Taste of Excellence.
Blue Banyon Inc. has already obtained a liquor permit, according to Lawrence Jaeger, a Strongsville resident who would own the business.
Plans call for a 1,944-square-foot restaurant that would seat a maximum of 50 people, and a 649-square-foot outdoor patio for up to 20 people.
"I'm excited about it," Jaeger said. "I think it will fill a niche."
He envisions it as an upscale wine and martini bar where people will meet after work for a drink and small-plate fare, and a place couples will go after seeing a movie.
As yet, the name of the business hasn't been decided. Jaeger said he hopes to open next spring.
Jaeger, an executive with Apple, said he will be the investor in the project, but said he will hire a general manager to run the business.

Doesn't appear to be enough parking spaces at this location. Certainly compared to the rejections due to parking for two other restaurant requests.

Kerry, you're right. The wine bar was granted a parking variance by the Board of Zoning Appeals -- for 18 spaces, if I remember correctly. They also arranged easements for some off-site parking, most likely to be used by employees.
