Skirmishes Between Picketers and Public: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

Police were called to Deer Path Drive twice April 3 and to Stoughton Drive once April 4 because of incidents between the public and picketing Strongsville teachers.

About 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, picketers reported a man sitting in a blue car, watching them.

He was gone when police arrived, but they determined he was a Strongville resident. Police told the protesters, who were picketing in front of a school board member's house,  that he had as much right to be on the street as they did.

About 2:30 p.m., police were back on Deer Path when a picketer complained a man got out of his car and charged the teachers, getting in their faces and yelling.

He also took pictures and video.

Police spoke with the man, who said he was just driving down the street when he noticed the protesters, so he went over to see what was going on.

He claimed he was "accosted by the teachers," the report said.

The next day, some males in a white SUV threw eggs at the picketers on Stoughton Drive.

The eggs did not hit the teachers.

Someone Tries to Get in House

A Craig Drive resident said someone tried to get in the house through the back sliding door about 9:10 p.m. April 1, then rang the doorbell.

A report said the intruder got inside the screened-in porch, then pulled on the sliding door leading to the kitchen, knocking out the bar that secures it.

The resident said the same thing has happened several times in the past, and one time a rug was stolen.

Drive-By Injection

A caller told police april 3 he saw a passenger in a truck on I-71 inject himself with a syringe, then throw the syringe out the window.

Police checked I-71, but couldn't find the vehicle.

Suspicious Person

A woman on Squirrel Hollow reported a male wearing a hoodie and heavy gloves stadng in her driveway, staring at her through the window about 9 p.m. April 4.

When he saw her on the phone, he hid behind a neighbor's tree. Her husband then came home and the male left.

Police couldn't find him in the neighborhood.

Online Friend May Not Be Friendly

A Clipper Cove Drive man told police he is concerned his 13-year-old son is being set up by someone online.

The person has been e-mailing the boy about Internet design.

Police suggested the dad change his son's e-mail and phone number. An officer also e-mailed the other person and told him to cease communications with the boy.
