The city had sprinklers out on Town Square on Tuesday trying to keep the grass green. Unsuspecting passers-by might have found themselves dodging the spray.
The forecast calls for another hot one today with a chance of showers, but cooler temperatures in the low 80s and showers are expected on Thursday. Highs will be in the 70s Friday and Saturday. City crews can shut off the sprinklers for a day or two.

Who in the world decided that water all the dried out grass in town is a wise way to spend tax dollars? These sprinklers are in operation most of the time every summer, as well as non-stop watering of ball fields. Oh I know, we need to preserve the quaint nature of the old town square, thought it's hard to notice with the five or six lanes of traffic and countless cars moving through constantly.
