Six Strongsville High School soccer players traveled to Las Vegas this past weekend and helped their club team, Cleveland United U17, win a coveted US Youth Soccer National League tournament.

It's the first time a team from Ohio Youth Soccer Association North (OYSAN) has ever won the Player's College Showcase tournament, which earned them an automatic bid to the 2013 US Youth National Soccer Championships, according to Strongsville parent Cheryl Ehrnfelt.

The girls -- Alexis Manoa, Paige Amodio, Nicolette Griesinger, Kelly Novak, Lizzie Ehrnfelt and Maddy Novak -- went undefeated during league play this season (7-0) and only gave up one goal, said Ehrnfelt.

Major college programs have already recruited the girls. Here are their commitments:

Amodio - Bowling Green State University

Ehrnfelt - University of Cincinnati

Griesinger - University of Dayton

Manoa - Bowling Green State University

K. Novak - University of Kentucky

M. Novak - Walsh University

Wonderful job, girls!! Our little town sure cranks out the athletes. We have some of the most dedicated kids in the country. We have a basketball player at Iowa, three professional baseball players, dozens of college baseball players. Pretty good for a small town in Ohio!!
