The Strongsville boys basketball team led by 7 in the second quarter, but ended up losing to the Chanel Firebirds 71-46 in the first day of a holiday tournament at Strongsville High School.

Strongsville is hosting the two-day tourney with Berea, Shaw and St. Peter Chanel.

Shaw beat Berea in the first varsity game Friday evening and will play Chanel on Saturday for the championship.

The Mustangs will play Berea in a consolation game at 6 p.m.

In junior varsity action, the Mustangs beat Chanel 66-41. On Saturday, they will take on Shaw, which bested Berea 46-39. 

Strongsville's freshman team also won on Friday and will play Berea for the championship at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
