Strongsville Police Blotter: That's Not Marijuana, It's Iguana

Also, clerk worries about customer's photo; woman steps out of shower and sees man at the window

Police were called to the Chestnut Lake Apartments April 1 when someone reported smelling marijuana coming from one of the units.

Officers said they did not smell marijuana. The tenant told police he lives with six lizards and was burning incense to cover up that smell.

• An employee at a store in reported April 1 that a man came into the store a few nights earlier at closing. When she asked if she could help him, he said no, then snapped a picture of her.

It is the fourth time he has done that, she said. Police advised her to call them the next time he comes in the store.

• Someone tried to steal a black Honda Civic from Westfield SouthPark April 1. Police said the steering column was peeled and tools were left in the car. It was parked about five spaces from the entrance.

• A woman who lives in a Pearl Road apartment told police she got out of the shower just before 10 p.m. April 3 and saw a man looking in the window at her. She screamed and the peeper, who was wearing a skull cap, dark-colored jacket and had facial hair, ran off.

• Witnesses reported an older woman walking on Pearl Road near Pizza Hut April 12, whipping around a belt and yelling at cars. Police found the woman was carrying a "Vote for Issue 31" sign as well as a belt. 

She was advised the issue had already gone up for a vote, but she said she wanted to carry the sign anyway. A report said she was going to visit her parents, who live in Strongsville. Police told her not to yell at cars.

• A parking ticket is the least of a Willow Wood Drive man's problems with his car, according to a report. Police told the man to move his car off the street after a neighbor complained it had been there four days -- and already cited on March 30. 

The owner said he needs to get a new battery before he can start the car, and replace a flat tire before he can move it.

• Vandals smeared human feces on two cars parked in a Whitney Road driveway two nights in a row, April 1 and 2.

• Some less-intense mischief was also reported over the weekend after youngsters tied plastic across the roadway on Cardinal Circle and Woodhurst Drive and on Homestead Park and Fair Meadow Place.

• A clerk at the got concerned when he heard a woman yelling "no, no, no" and "leave me go" at three men -- one carrying a video camera -- in the early morning hours April 2.

Police reviewed the video tape, but there was nothing involving the woman on it. The woman said she wasn't being threatened -- it was just her nature to be loud. They were all told to go back to their rooms and keep the noise down.

• A disturbance on Hidden Meadows Lane about 3 a.m. April 2 involved a cab, several intoxicated men, a video camera and vomit.

The cabbie called police after the passengers started to fight. According to a report, one of the men had gotten sick in the cab and was cleaning it up, and one of his friends was filming it with his phone, which upset the sick guy.
