Strongsville Police Dog Tracks Down Robbery Suspect in Berea
Canine Tesco follows scent right to a front door
A Strongsville police dog was instrumental in the arrest of a man suspected of an armed robbery at a CVS in Berea Feb. 6.
A masked man jumped over the counter of the Bagley Road store shortly before 2 a.m. and forced the pharmacist -- at gunpoint -- to open a safe and give him prescription pills, Fox 8 and other news outlets reported.
Berea police called Strongsville about 2:50 a.m. to ask a canine officer to help track the robber, who fled from the store on foot.
Strongsville police dog Tesco and his handler, Ptl. Dan Mertz, tracked the robber to a house on Pulaski Street, where the suspect, Jared Sebaugh, 23, was arrested.
Police have said Sebaugh is not a suspect in a recent rash of robberies at pharmacies, including three in Parma.
