Strongsville Undecided on Signing Poaching Agreement

Mayor doesn't want to be limited in developing land

Mayor Tom Perciak has not yet decided whether Strongsville will sign a "no poaching" agreement proposed by County Executive Ed FitzGerald.

FitzGerald is asking the 59 suburbs to agree not to pursue businesses in other local communities, which is fine with Perciak.

"We don't poach," he said.

And if a company approaches Strongsville about relocating, officials here would hav to notify officials there, unless the business demands it stay confidential.

Agan, no problem. "We already contact other cities and make them aware," Perciak said.

But he said Strongsville is in the unique position of owning , and needs to be able to market it to the types of businesses the city wants.

"We have issues that need to be resolved before we can sign," he said.

FitzGerald said cities that sign the deal are eligible to receive money from a $100 million economic development fund.
