Sutton Applauds President's Support of Gay Marriage

Congresswoman says everyone is entitled to American Dream

U.S. Rep. Betty Sutton, D-13, is applauding President Obama's announcement today that supports gay marriage.

"Future generations will look back on the actions taken today to end discrimination in all of its forms as a watershed moment," Sutton said in a news release.'

"Every American deserves a chance at the American Dream, with no exception. The President's actions today represent progress in fulfilling our nation's commitment to equality for all Americans.”

The President told ABC News that his personal opinion is that same-sex marriage should be allowed.

Sutton, who calls herself a strong supporter of equality for all, voted to end ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ in the 111th Congress, and is an original co-sponsor of H.R. 1397, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
