A Chinese takeout restaurant is seeking to open in part of the former Hobby Town USA spot in the Strongsville Plaza on Pearl Road.
Little Hong Kong is seeking a conditional use permit for 2,392 square feet in the former hobby store, 14785 Pearl Rd.
The Strongsville Planning Commission is expected to review the request Thursday, Aug. 16.
Planning Secretary Carol Oprea said the restaurant would mainly serve customers for takeout, but is also seeking seating for up to 24 people who want to dine in.
It would be located next to Old Carolina Barbecue, which is renovating part of the first floor of the former Bally's building for a restaurant.
Last summer, Kumo Japanese Buffet sought to take over the entire first floor of the former Bally's building for a huge Japanese-Chinese-American eatery, but was turned down because there were not enough parking spaces in the Strongsville Plaza lot.
Old Carolina was approved despite a parking deficiency because it is smaller than Kumo and did not require as many spaces.
