The New Rosewood Grill: A Peek Behind the Scenes
Restaurant will have year-round patio and an outdoor fire pit
If you've been to the Rosewood Grill in Hudson, the new one in Strongsville will look pretty familiar.
"It's the same granite, the same tile floor, the same fabric on the booths," said George Schindler, president of parent company Hospitality Restaurants. "We're re-creating what we have in Hudson."
Even Hudson's general manager Chris Kneeland and head chef Scott Bambic will make the move to run Strongsville's newest restaurant, now under construction at the Plaza at SouthPark.
The 10,000-square-foot, 175-seat restaurant will feature a 12-month patio -- open air in the summer, open to the dining room in the winter -- with a heated floor, and a fire pit with soft seating area.
A few dining tables will adjoin the fire pit outside.
"We're excited about being in Strongsville," Schindler said. "It seems like the restaurant scene in Strongsville is really starting to take off."
Hospitality Restaurants opened the first Rosewood Grill in 2009. It also operates Cabin Club (Westlake), Salmon Dave’s (Rocky River), Blue Point Grille (downtown’s Warehouse District), Thirsty Parrot (Gateway District) and Delmonico’s Steakhouse (Independence).
The menu at Rosewood Grill boasts more than 20 dinner choices under $20 and features sandwiches, flatbreads, soups and salads, with specialties including rotisserie chicken, Great Lakes walleye, lobster ziti and eight-hour oven-braised short rib.
It also has a large wine list and a number of beer choices.
Schindler, who has said he was drawn to the building's 18-foot ceilings and 30-foot tall glass tower, said the new restaurant was re-designed three times before launching an aggressive 13-week construction schedule, which is on track.
He added that the city was helpful in the process.
"The city's been fantastic -- the building department, the mayor's office," Schindler said. "Everyone has been great."
An opening date has not been announced, and probably won't be. Schindler said Hospitality's restaurants typically open without fanfare.
In the meantime, the restaurant is interviewing employees for nearly 70 positions. Applicants can submit resumes to Careers@HRcleveland.com or mail them to Careers at Hospitality Restaurants, 19111 Detroit Rd., Suite 304, Rocky River, OH 44116.
