The threat of windy, rainy and cold weather on Wednesday has prompted Strongsville to cancel trick-or-treat on Halloween night.
Instead, trick-or-treat will be held on Sunday night, Nov. 4.
Hours are 6-8 p.m.
Strongsville is one of a number of communities changing trick-or-treat because of the effects of Hurricane Sandy, which is expected to send high winds and more rain our way over the next few days.
Several TV stations, including Fox 8, are posting a list of trick-or-treat times on their websites, if you want to check on a neighboring community.

What!?! The kids do not have school on Tuesday, why not have it on Monday night???

I've tried in past years to have Halloween changed to the last Saturday night of the month. 'Never will happen!' I was told by my councilman. Today when trick-or-treating is actually changed, I see that it's not to Saturday or even Monday night (no school Tuesday) but Sunday!! As a parent and teacher, I'm dumbfounded by this decision-making process.

I don't think Saturday night would be very wise. Young adults and teenagers are out then. If I had kids of age to trick-or-treat, I would not want them out on "date night" or the teenagers "fun night". Also, Sunday gives the parents time to get the kids ready. If both work during the day, they have to rush home to eat, dress,...
I think Sunday is the perfect night. Kids today are not in bed early anyhow.

I don't always agree with the city leaders, but on this I do.

I understand the moving of Halloween, but why not to Saturday. The kids have no school on Sunday. Has anyone seen the kid's after a night of trick or treating. This leads me to wonder if the City of Strongsville would change the "holiday" to the last Saturday of October every year.

Don't you think there is the potential for problems, being that is when the older kids and young adults are out having their own Halloween fun? Remember back when you were a kid and what Saturday night meant?

I think you're right digger, trick or treat should be moved to the last Saturday in October

Some kids that live in Strongsville do have school Tuesday. Sunday is perfect because you dont have to rush homework and dinner. Great decision.

THE OLDER KIDS AND YOUNG ADULTS START HAVING THEIR FUN AFTER 8 PM. THE POLICE WOULD BE OUT IN FORCE FOR A REGULAR SATURDAY NIGHT. MANY COMMUNITIES HAVE SEEN THE WISDOM TO CHANGING IT ON A SATURDAY NIGHT. I PERSONALLY WOULD ENJOY THAT. I BELIEVE MANY PARENTS WOULD ALSO AS WELL AS THE EDUCATORS.

Poor kid. He probably won't come home with much if he only hits Strongsville homes. We'll just offer him a job.
