Up for Some Winter Golf? Chili Open is Feb. 25

Strongsville Rotary event is a huge fundraiser -- and lots of fun

The 21st annual B'laster Chili Open Golf Classic is set for Feb. 25 at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds.

The event runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes a frosty round of golf, food, raffles and a celebrity auction.

Organized by the Rotary Club of Strongsville, the Chili Open has raised more than $2 million for charity since 1992.

The all-volunteer event has become a February tradition in Northeast Ohio, drawing nearly 1,000 golfers who tee off into blasts of frigid air, putt across frozen greens and warm up with hot food and indoor activities.

Plenty of guests don't golf, but show up for the Wendy's chili and contests. This year, there will be a raffle for a Cleveland Indians loge for 10.

Auction items include a trip to Puerta Vallarta, Headliner Membership to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, air duct cleaning and a one-month country club membership.
