Upscale Homes Planned Off Prospect Road

Cedar Creek Estates will feature large, wooded lots

A developer is planning an exclusive subdivision off Prospect Road that will feature large, private lots and upscale homes.

Ed Lechler said Cedar Creek Estates will be a unique development in Strongsville in that it will offer very private wooded lots and large houses, including some estate homes.

"We're filling a void," Lechler said. "Strongsville is losing people to Hinckley and other areas to move to this type of development."

The 12 lots will range in size from 3/4-acre to 1.5 acres. "We're leaving a lot of the trees," Lechler said.

Plans for the subdivision are expected to go before the Strongsville Planning Commission tonight. The development will be located about 500 feet north of Breckenridge Lane and accessed by a street that will probably be called Cedar Creek Drive.

Lechler said he hopes to start clearing land in March  and constructing homes in late summer. Several of the lots have already been sold, he said.

He has not contracted with a builder, but will instead allow owners to bring their own builders, as long as they meet the subdivision's criteria. He declined to detail the criteria, other than that the houses will have to be at least partly brick.

Lechler, who owns Rock Bottom Landscaping on Prospect Road, said this is his first venture as a home developer.

He said he is focusing on an upscale development with large lots "because it's what's missing.

"This side of town is quieter and more private than other parts of Strongsville," he said. "It will fit in with the area."
