Who Remembers Siedel's Fun Farm?
If you lived in Strongsville in the '60s or '70s, you were probably there
If you grew up in Strongville in the 1960s or '70s, there's no doubt you remember Siedel's Fun Farm.
If you're a newcomer to town, you should know that the farm is an icon of Strongsville's rural history.
Once a working farm, it gradually became a place to gather for hayrides and bonfires, to ride on a tire swing or make your way through a hay maze.
"For my family, it was a fall tradition," recalled Ward 3 Councilman Jim Carbone. "We'd go every year for the hayrides."
Dan Barcy, a 1972 graduate of Strongsville High School who worked at the farm while growing up, started a Facebook page dedicated to preserving and sharing memories of the farm.
The Siedels' land was located off Westwood Drive, west of Prospect Road.
"It was sad when that farm was sold," Carbone said.
Were you ever there? Let us know.

I lived in Seven Hills and when I was in Kindergarten went to Siedel's Fun Farm, we were able to milk a goat. Moved to Strongsville after getting married and said if I ever won the lottery I would buy Siedel's and restore and reopen the farm. Unfortunately, I never won the lottery.

I was fortunate to be a parent chaperone for many of the field trips that the children in the elementary grades were able to take to Siedel's. What great fun everyone had! No amusement park rides - just a day filled with farm fun and learning activities. The children loved being at the Farm interacting with, and learning about, the animals and the farm; swinging on tree swings; having "rope tugs; and just loving the day.

I was in first grade at St Peter & Paul School/ Garfield Hts. We went there for a field trip. I remember climbing on some type of rope net?? Similar to something used in basic training! Fun day. Too bad insurance companies have basically shut down these small, family owned entertainment centers. (Maybe not in this case...but in plenty of others...)

We remember Siedel's! I'm currently looking for a hayride/bonfire location to have a reunion of sorts for our group. We used to go every year in our wild-and-crazy days. During the hayride, we'd stop at all the games and the hay maze... how fun was that maze? except when someone started screaming over touching a spider. And how fun was it to try to make it across that log (or rope) over the creek! (except for those who didn't make it, of course!) And the competition to climb the wall, or walk the ropes. We probably weren't supposed to throw the hay in the wagon. But we probably did... :) And then all the jokes, laughter and partying in the cabin as we cooked our hotdogs and marshmallows. Lots of good memories. and a few embarrassing pictures :) It was a great place. Bloodhound Lover is probably right--I'll bet the liability insurance just got to be too much. Too bad.
