Wrong Number Causes Mystery, Police Investigation
The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department
A 911 hang-up call Wednesday led to a small investigation that sent police to a Strongsville school to see if kids were all right.
A dispatcher reported about 8:50 a.m. that someone at a Collier Drive house had called 911 and hung up. When she called back, the line was busy, but an operator said there was no conversation on the line.
Police went to the house and and found bags left on the doorstep, but no one answered the door.
They did see footprints in the snow leading away from the house, so the dispatcher called Muraski School to see if the kids from the house were there.
They were, and were summoned to the school office to talk to police.
One of the kids said she had called their mother that morning to say they were going to walk to school and may have misdialed.
Police then called the mom, too, to let her know what had been going on.
