The weather hasn't been the best this summer, but the forecast calls for some sunshine and nice temperatures this weekend.

Here are five things you can do outdoors in or near Strongsville:

1. Touch-a-Truck — Cleveland Metroparks will have its annual Touch-A-Truck event on Sunday, Aug. 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Strongsville Park Operations in Mill Stream Run Reservation. Kids can climb all over bulldozers and other equipment. There will also be a huge sandbox.

2. Color Fest Picnic — Strongsville United Methodist Church will have its second picnic from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18. It's open to anyone, but students, parents, teachers and school administrators are on the top of the guest list. Click here for details.

3. Chippewa Creek Trail Challenge — Hike a tough 10-mile course starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 in the Cleveland Metroparks Brecksville Reservation.

4. Backyard Preserve — For a shorter hike, visit Strongsville's Backyard Preserve and Freedom Trail. They're in the common area behind the rec center and Castletown playground, many people have never taken a few minutes to enjoy the volunteer-run garden and the tribute to veterans.

5. Corn Roast — Enjoy roasted corn, hot dogs and other goodies from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 in the Metroparks Brecksville Reservation.
