This free community event is open to all area women and their teenage daughters.

“Women today even more than ever want to know they have simple yet effective skills to prevent an assault or stop a potentially dangerous situation like an physical attack” said Jeff Ellis, an 8th degree black belt with more than 43 years of self-defense training experience. “There is hardly a day that goes by that we don’t see a report on television or hear about an attack or abduction on the radio."

Every 10-15 seconds, somewhere, somehow, a woman is being assaulted.  Often the woman is alone, unsure of how to react, uncertain how to protect herself, unable to stop the attack.

The “Don’t Be a Victim” workshop will focus on providing women valuable information regarding safety awareness, evading assault and self-defense skills.  The use of basic hand strikes, blocking actions, simple kicks, and easy ways to escape from grabs or holds will be explored.

The Rotary-sponsored “Don’t Be A Victim” events conducted by Jeff Ellis sell out, and this event is expected to fill up quickly. Register early to reserve your spot.

Register online at www.dontbeavictim.info, or drop off a registration form at Strongsville Ehrnfelt Recreation Center or mail it to the Rotary Club of Strongsville, “Don’t Be a Victim”, PO Box 360401, Strongsville, OH 44136.

Sensitive subject matter will be discussed. All participants will be required to sign a waiver the day of the event.
