Gay Rights, A Year in Ecuador & Mulberries: Blogs on Patch

This week our bloggers dove into gay rights, gardening and health care. Check it out!

In continued learning of the new Patch platform, we've learned that sharing blogs across all 17 Ohio sites has been a little tricky. Undoubtedly, there were some great regional blogs you missed this week because of that.

Here are a few of our favorites:

• Blogger Dave Cunix gets personal in his blog this week, entitled The Tar Pits are Calling. He writes about how the  Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) will affect him and why he's concerned.

• One of our newest bloggers, Lauren, is a recent graduate of Our Lady of the Elms in Akron. Instead of entering college in the fall, she's taking a bridge year in Ecuador through Global Citizen Year. Read why she was drawn to the program here.

• Gay rights activist Shane May was elated this week when the Supreme Court of the United States ruled the Defense Against Marriage Act unconstitutional. He shares his thoughts here about what that means for him and his partner.

• Patch also gained a new gardening blogger this week in Nicki Schneider. Here she explains why you never find mulberries in the fruit section of a store.  She also discusses how to preserve them before they turn to mush.
