New Recycling Bins Are a Hit In Strongsville

City will also save money and earn extra cash

Recycling got easier in Strongsville this week with these new collection bins, which now accept paper products ranging from junk mail to cereal boxes to cardboard to phone books.

Judging by the bins outside the Communication Center, they're a hit. All were nearly full Monday morning.

Ward 3 Councilman Jim Carbone, who suggested switching the contract to River Valley, said the move saves the city the $21,000 it was paying the previous recycling collector, and also now receives $30 for every ton collected in the bins.

In addition, he said the city will save money at the landfills because Strongsville residents who recycle put less trash at the curbs.
