Local serviceman can't live in his home because of black mold

A Strongsville gym will help raise money for the family of a local veteran who have been forced out of their home.

CrossFix Box, 10909 Prospect Rd., will host the fundraiser for the Haworth family 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 23.

Minimum donation is $20. Participants will compete in heats of Fights Gone Bad every half hour, working out at various exercise stations. No CrossFit experience is necessary.

Those who don't want to exercise can cheer on the athletes and participate in the 50/50 raffle.

All the proceeds will benefit Alex, Mallorie and Emma Haworth, who were excited to purchase their first home after Alex, injured while serving overseas, finished months of physical therapy out of state.

But when they went to move into the Olmsted Township house, they discovered black mold.

Now they have nowhere to live and, because they're paying the mortgage on the house, can't afford an apartment. They have been staying in a family member's basement.
