Take Your Pup to the Monster Mutt Dash and Howl-O-Ween Party Sunday, Oct. 13

Event includes canine competitions and a costume runway parade

Berea Animal Rescue Friends will host its 6th Annual Monster Mutt Dash and Howl-O-Ween AfterParty, which brings two wildly popular events together into one fun-filled day for pets and their people, on Sunday, Oct. 13 at Coe Lake Pavilion in Berea, behind City Hall.

The Monster Mutt Dash is a pet friendly 5k race, coordinated by Hermes Cleveland, along with a one-mile Fun Walk for people and their pooches who prefer a more casual pace.

The race will be followed by ARF’s annual Howl-O-Ween Party, a family-friendly Halloween Party for both people and pets. The event is highlighted by a pet costume runway parade and contest, along with various canine competitions including musical hoops, bobbing for weenies, best kisser and tricks n’ treats contests and more.

The AfterParty is free and open to the public. (Race participation not required.)

Race/Walk participants can register online, by mail or in-person on the day of the race, beginning at 8:30 a.m.; the race begins promptly at 10 a.m. Complete registration information is available at www.bereaanimalrescue.com

Runners / walkers receive an official long-sleeved Monster Mutt Dash t-shirt (guaranteed if pre-registered) a goody bag and post-race refreshments. The top three runners in each category will be recognized. Incentive prizes are available for those who raise funds for ARF by gathering pledges.

The Howl-O-Ween AfterParty will kick off at 10:30 a.m. and go till 1 p.m., featuring popular attractions like interactive doggie games and contests, clowns, Cleveland Indians’ Slider, Euclid Beach Rocket Ship Rides, face painting, magicians, pictures with your pet, pet portraits by Martha, ask the trainer, mini spa treatments for pooches, games for kids, pizza and snacks, a huge raffle basket table, adoptable animals, vendors, the opportunity to shop for unique pet-related products and more.

Last year’s event drew more than 1,000 folks and 300 dogs, many in costume. Event coordinators are expecting an even bigger turnout this year.

The Dash has become ARF’s No. 1 fund-generating event, helping ARF continue its mission to provide life saving care to the animals that enter its doors until fur-ever homes are found. Last year ARF was able to help more than 1,100 needy animals with the help of funds raised at events like the Dash.

The 6th Annual Monster Mutt Dash and Howl-O-Ween AfterParty is brought to you by ARF’s sponsors, including Top Dogs, Active Runner, Dog Gone It Pet Care, MetroPet Veterinary Clinic, Petco Foundation, Sandstone Animal Hospital, Westpark Animal Hospital and Bestrex.com, official home of ARF’s vehicle donation program.
