Audition in April for 'Broadway Cabaret'

Royalton Players seeking singers for show

Auditions are scheduled for April 15 and 16 for the Royalton Players' “Broadway Cabaret.”

Two men and two women are needed to perform a variety of Broadway musical numbers for the production, which is scheduled for a two-weekend run beginning June 8.

Auditions will statrt at 7 p.m. both nights at the , 18533 Shurmer Rd., Strongsville, the Royalton Players’ temporary home. Those attending auditions should bring a piece of music to sing.

“Broadway Cabaret” will include a variety of songs from established and more contemporary shows.

“We will have songs from a variety of older and well known shows including ‘Godspell,’ ‘The Full Monty,’ ‘Damn Yankees,’ ‘Cabaret,’ ‘Les Miserables,’ ‘Phantom of the Opera,’ ‘Chicago,’ and ‘Man of La Mancha,’” said Scott Maynard, music director for the production and vice president of the theater. “There will also be musical numbers from some newer and contemporary shows including ‘The Book of Mormon,’ ‘Rent,’ ‘Spring Awakening,’ ‘American Idiot,’ ‘Avenue Q,’ and ‘Urinetown.’”

Joining Maynard in the collaboration of the event is Chuck Poliafico, who will serve as director.  

In addition to the musical numbers, three short skits written by several Royalton Players members will also be produced.

“The seating for the musical will be more of a cabaret setting with tables instead of just chairs lined up in rows,” Maynard said. “There will also be a variety of coffees, teas and desserts served during the run of the show.”
