Year-Round Story Times!

Cuyahoga County Public Library offers story time sessions year-round for children Birth to Grade 2. Story Time sessions are going on now! Please call the Strongsville Branch for program information and more details.

Friends of Strongsville Branch Library Spring Book Sale. 
Saturday, March 10 -  The Friends members ONLY preview will be from 9 - 10 a.m.  Sale opens to the general public from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.   Friends memberships will be available for purchase at the door for $8.00 and are good for one year. 
Sunday, March 11 from 1 - 4 p.m.  Fill a Friends provided bag with books for only $2 dollars. 
Monday, March 12 from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.  Fill a Friends provided bag with books for only $1!

Spring Career Workshop Series.  Thursdays, March 1 – 29 from 1:30 – 3: p.m. 

A library Career Counselor will be on hand for a five-week Career Workshop series.

Young at Heart Book Club.  Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. 

A book club for adults who love children’s and teen books.  Our next discussion will be on Tuesday, March 6. Please register in person to pick up a copy of the book Countdown by Debbie Wiles.  Join us for refreshments and a sprightly discussion of children’s and teen literature.

Aware and Prepared.  Wednesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. 

 Crime can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. But there are ways to thwart the possibility of crime. Ronald Hanzel, author of Aware and Prepared, will show some easy ways to use everyday items for self-defense if needed, such as a cane, keys and much more. This program is for everyone, especially seniors and young women.

Scrapbooking Your Recipes.  Monday, March 12 at 7 p.m.  

Join Scrapbook Artist, Mary Kemock, for another creative scrapbook workshop.  Give your favorite or heirloom recipes the space they deserve in your scrapbooks by joining us for this hands-on workshop.  Supplies will be provided for each participant to complete a 12x12 scrapbook page showcasing your recipes.   Please bring your recipe and at least one 4x6 photo showing either your finished recipe or someone making the recipe to include on the page. Even if you are not into scrapbooking, this is a great keepsake or gift!

Gardening with Native Plants, Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m.

Join Garrett Ormiston, GIS and Stewardship Specialist with the Natural Areas Division of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and professional landscaper for a seminar about landscaping with native plants. Learn about the threats that invasive plants pose to parks and natural areas, the many benefits of native plants for wildlife and how to make responsible plant choices in your gardens.

Exploration Station: Sharing and Caring, ages 3 – 5 with caregiver.

Join us for stories and activities about sharing with others.  Children will be able to explore and practice social skills through play at hands-on learning stations.

Just 4 U Student Friends Meeting. Saturday, March 17 at 1:30 p.m.  Ages 10 – 18.  

Join the Just 4 U Student Friends group and get involved in your library!  You can help your library with volunteer projects and other activities. Contact the Teen Librarian or Children's Librarian for an application.

Hunger Games Movie Release Party. Saturday, March 17 from 2 – 4 p.m.  Grades 5 – 12.

Hunger Games fans!  Come represent your district in our thrilling race to the Cornucopia to see who will be the new victors of the library version of the Hunger Games. Enjoy snacks, challenges and Panem trivia.  All participants must have a release form signed by a parent prior to attending the program.  The form will be available at the door before the program begins.  The form can also be obtained in advance by contacting the teen librarian, Jan Chapman at 440-238-5530.

Teen READ Book Club.  Monday, March 19 from 7 – 8 p.m.  Grades 5 – 8.

Join us for a book discussion of books that were made into movies.  Refreshments served.  Registration is requested.  Please contact the Teen Librarian for a copy of the book being discussed this month.

Glitz and Glamour in the White House. Tuesday, March 20 at 7 p.m.

In honor of Women's History Month, Dr. Mari Halkovich, owner of Vintage Vanities, will present this program on the history, jewelry, and fashion of the Ohio Presidential First Ladies.  Dr. Halkovich will share information about each of the seven Ohio First Ladies, show pictures of the First Ladies' jewelry from the presidential library archives not currently on display, and she will have much more memorabilia and other similar jewelry from the time period on display.

Good Morning, Strongsville Speaker Series.  Wednesday, March 21 at 10 a.m.

A library open house speaker series of programs for Seniors and residents of Strongsville.  Our March topic will be "Shop Smart: Know Your Rights."  A speaker from the Ohio Attorney General's Office will be here to speak on how Ohio's consumer laws can protect you from the savviest scam artists.  The Attorney General's office receives more than 25,000 consumer complaints each year.  Find out the top ten complaint categories and learn how to protect yourself from fraud.

Wednesday Evening Book Discussion.  Meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. 

New members welcome!  Our next discussion will be on Wednesday, March 21 at 7 p.m.  In February, we will discuss the book Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout.  Copies will be available to pick-up at the circulation desk.  Join us for great conversation!

Jungle Safari Puppet Show.  Saturday, March 25 from 2 – 2:45 p.m.

The Jungle Safari Puppet Show with Katie Bee and Roger Dodger has it all;  Awesome Puppets, a touch of Magic, Storytelling and antics that get plenty of laughter.  Children help decorate a cool Balloon Tree with Jungle Balloon Animals and there's lots of audience participation in this fun program!  Registration begins on Monday, March 5 at 9 a.m.

Monday Afternoon Book Discussion.  Meets the fourth Monday of each month at 2:30 p.m.  New Members Welcome!
