Library Reading Event Features Martial Arts, Japanese Drumming

Kickoff is set for June 11

The Strongsville Branch Library will host a “Read Around the World” Summer Reading kickoff open house from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 11 with entertainment and refreshments for all ages.

Enjoy a Bharathanatyam Indian Dance performance, a karate demonstration by Jeff Ellis' International Karate Center and a special performance by Yume Daiko Japanese Drumming group. 

The event will kick off the library's Summer Reading Contest, which gives participants a chance to win prizes just by reading.

Register online for the game or in person at the . The contest runs June 4 to Aug. 6.

Sponsors for prizes are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Lake Erie Monsters, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland Indians, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Museum, Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Natural History Museum.
