Mayor Proclaims 'Tricia Tanguy Day' in Strongsville

March 8 was Tricia Tanguy Day in Strongsville in honor of the 2002 Strongsville High School graduate's successful acting career.

Mayor Tom Perciak read the proclamation Friday during the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Strongsville.

Tanguy, who is currently performing in Sister Act  at the Palace Theater in Cleveland, received the honor in the presence of family members, including her parents, as well as her Strongsville High School choir and band instructors Eric Richardson and Ken Mehalko.

Tanguy, the daughter of Mike and AnnMarie Tanguy, attended Whitney Elementary School and Albion Middle School before graduating from Strongsville High School in 2002.

While at SHS, she was a member of the National Honor Society and the Mathematics Honor Society (Mu Alpha Theta).  She played First Chair flute in the high school Symphony Orchestra, sang with the Cantorum Choir and sang and danced with the Mustang Express Show Choir.

She sang with the Singing Angels and performed locally for several years in various roles with the Berea Summer Theater, Greenbrier Theater, in Parma Heights, Cain Park Theater, in Cleveland Heights and St. Ignatius High School Theater, in Cleveland. She also has been a National Anthem soloist for the Cleveland Indians.

Tanguy has been on the road with the national tours of The Producers in the “Hold Me-Touch Me Ensemble,” in Cats as Grizabella and Joseph & the Technicolor Dreamcoat as the narrator.

She made her New York debut in the final Off-Broadway cast of The Marvelous Wonderettes as the dance captain and understudy.
